HIV review by Systems of the Body and Comorbidities                                                        

Recent reviews of how each organ system and comorbidities are affected by HIV, and other HIV-related topics, guideline based, using plain language, and knowing that a basic familiarity with the proper medical terminology is important.

To gain context for many of the issues we face as People Living with HIV, it is important to gain a basic understanding of the body’s systems and how they may be impacted by HIV and the accelerated aging process and effects of the many medications we take to manage our health.

Dr. Joseph Caperna is a Clinical Professor at UCSD and has worked for over three decades with PLWH. He currently serves as the Medical Advisor for the San Diego HIV Consortium.

Dear Colleagues.

The San Diego HIV Consortium has created a unique course to share the latest reports, guidelines and research in HIV. This course is distinctive in that:

  • The course takes an approach by organ system , condition or comorbidity.
  • The speakers will offer new topics at each lecture.
  • The speakers will ask attendees for input regarding immediate needs for their own healthcare.
  • The speakers will be available for Q&A at each meeting.
  • Speakers and attendees will create a summary table at the end of each lecture to share with the San Diego HIV community at large.

Events will be held the first Wednesday of each month at The Center from 6 – 7 PM and dinner will be included,
